Horseback
If you love horses, then Olympia’s K.O. Corral and horse arena is the place for you! Riding horses is a tradition at Texas summer camps, and Horseback at Camp Olympia has long been one of the most popular activity offerings. Many campers have ridden their first horse at camp! More confident and experienced riders can participate in the Advanced Horseback class. Several campers selected from each term’s horseback classes participate in our all-camp Rodeo!
Horseback Choices at Camp
Horseback
Horseback is one of the activities that campers select most often when choosing their activities. In horseback class, campers spend time learning about horses, grooming, and learning the basics of riding.
Advanced Horseback
Advanced Horseback class is for riders who have received an “advanced” rating in a prior horseback class or have demonstrated confidence and advanced skills in riding a horse. Campers in Advanced Horseback will ride in the arena as possibly on trails through camp. Our Advanced Horseback campers are encouraged to participate in one of our Rodeo events, such as pole bending. Our Rodeo King or Queen is chosen from our Advanced Horseback class.
